Emmanuel Adebayor admits he had no choice but to quit Manchester City after Roberto Mancini lost faith in him.

The ex-Arsenal flop left Eastlands on Wednesday and joined Real Madrid on loan until the end of the season. However, the Spanish club have first dabs on the 26-year-old should Madrid and City agree on a financial settlement come the summer transfer window.

Ade said at his first Real Madrid press conference…

‘My dream has come true to be able to play again at the highest level, especially with Real Madrid.’

‘It’s true I had an up-and-down time and I was nearly killed on the way to the African Nations Cup. I was traumatised by all those kinds of things and it was a very difficult moment for me, but now all those things are behind me.’

‘2010 started very badly for me, but 2011 has started very well by signing a contract with Real Madrid.’

‘I’m very honoured and very, very happy to join this club. After all that has happened over the last six months, today I’m more comfortable, more relieved.’

‘What went wrong with Mancini and Manchester City? I don’t think there’s a lot of things wrong.’

‘But right now he doesn’t have any confidence in me and he has decided to choose other players.’

‘I’m happy to be back on the pitch with Real Madrid and have the chance to play football again.’
