World Cup 50-50 for Micah

Opinion is split right down the middle about whether Micah Richards is ready for international duty and whether he could even be a surprise inclusion in Sven’s World Cup squad.

The 17 year old has impressed in City’s reserves all season and has taken the step up to the first team in his stride. In his recent premiership outings he has more often than not been City’s best player… I know that’s not saying much at the moment as we’re in one of those deep troughs, but he’s playing with a maturity way beyong his young age.

Personally, I’d like to see him go, as he can play in defence, midfield and is also no slouch up front if required. However, knowing how ultra cautious and conservative Sven is, I doubt very much if he’d have the bottle to pick him. He’s more likely to stick with really average and dull players like Phil Neville and Jenas. He also has a tendency to stick with players he knows, irrespective of the current form their in or the injuries their carrying ( Dyer, Owen etc) – and that’s why we’re not going to win the World Cup !!

It’s not long until the squad is announced, but I expect there’ll only be one City player going to Germany and that’ll be James.
