Manchester City have confirmed the capture of Barcelona ace Yaya Toure on a five-year deal.

In his three years at the Nou Camp, Yaya picked up a Champions League winner`s medal in 2009, as well as two successive La Liga titles in 2008/09 and 2009/10.

Speaking to the clubs official website, the 27-year-old midfielder enthused: “This is a dream come true, I have always wanted to play for the same club as my brother and I’m so happy that it has finally happened. It’s great for our family, we’re all so happy about it.

“I’m very happy to sign for Manchester City, I believe we can do well this season and then play in the Champions League next year.”


City boss Roberto Mancini was equally pleased following Yaya’s arrival, remarking of the clubs latest acquisition: “This is another fantastic signing for Manchester City, and I am very pleased Yaya has joined us, he is a very good player.

“Everyone knows Yaya is a player that we have admired for a long time, and we would like to welcome him to Manchester City. He has played at the top level with Barcelona and I am sure he his experience and ability will be very important for us.”


The Ivory Coast international will join up with his brother Kolo and the rest of the squad in time for City’s pre-season tour.
