Yaya Toure has been presented with and accepted a new deal at the Etihad.

Details have not yet been fully released but he has put to bed any stated interest from any Russian-backed team keenly hunting him to replace the rubbish they contain in their midfield.

And his reaction has been fantastic and a long way from his alleged statement at the end of last season when he is supposed to have said that his work with City was now complete as he held aloft the Premier League title.

Accepting that the re-emulation thereof is probably beyond City now, although there could be a brown effect on the shorts of the Stretfords as their world has tumbled from treble to single in around 2 weeks, his enthusiasm and apparent love affair with City is a joy to behold against the background that every City player is simply a mercenary who doesn’t know who they are playing for!

Yaya has certainly bought into the Pedmachine’s definition of the FA Cup as did ITV over the weekend confirming that it was the most important national Cup competition and the most iconic trophy in the world.

So the great man is set once again to drive City forward in the semi-final. How can we forget his last 2 major contributions at Wembley? First off sending the Stretfords back to Milton Keynes aghast and then finally scoring the goal that tore up the disgusting sign in the Stretford end as the FA Cup came to its spiritual home. If you cannot remember, find and re-read my report of the final. It was awesome.

Good to see Chelsea winning tonight, it keeps them interested in the Europa League which in turn becomes a heralded distraction as far as their FA Cup ambitions are concerned.

In the meantime, (Sky) Blues sit back safe in the knowledge that Yaya will stay at City for the foreseeable and hopefully repeat what he did in 2011!
