Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City’s Bluehearted Argentinian international has issued a rallying cry to Planet Blue ahead of next week’s showdown with Stretford…

The uncompromising, talented and tough tackling City stalwart will make his 150th City appearance against the rags at The Etihad Stadium and has underlined the significance of the game that Sir Alex Ferguson has described as the biggest derby of his time in Manchester as it draws to a close. Zaba told th’official site:

‘We need the support of the fans as always, but now more than ever. The role of our incredible fans cannot be understated for this game. This is the one we have all been waiting for and we all need to be together, both the players and the fans.’

The 27 year old who was hacked down by a hopelessly off the pace Paul Scholes during City’s FA Cup Semi-Final win over the rags one year ago yet had the last laugh, completes 4 years with City this summer. He arrived in town for a £6.4 million steal from Espanyol the night Robinho signed from Real Madrid and has been a big part of City’s stunning resurgence from also rans to title contenders:

‘We have been 5 points clear before so we know how it feels, but United losing against Wigan and dropping points at home to Everton shows that in football you have to believe, because you just never know. If we have another chance for the title it is because we deserve it. We have kept going and we will continue to do that and see what happens.

‘We know how important this game is. United are the team we want to beat, especially because it gives us the chance to get back to the top.’

Stretford wingers such as Nani and Ashley Plunge can expect a rough ride when they come up against Zaba.
