It’s being reported today that manager Manuel Pellegrini will get his man in the shape of Moroccan defender Medhi Benatia this summer, but there is a condition.
The deals hangs on whether Roma can source a replacement.
It’s suggested that the deal has been done, wrapped up, and all that is left is the official signing and the transfer of money, but that won’t be done unless Roma bring in cover first.
The player is very highly rated, and it’s said we have agreed a deal worth £30million to secure his services, such is Pellegrini’s wish to get him to the club, but of course Roma have qualified for the Champions League for the coming season and are in no rush to let him go unless they find a quality replacement as they want to do well in Europe and also launch a title challenge.
It’s also said that if Roma cool on this because they can’t strike a deal for anybody, we will move on to Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala, who it’s said we outlined personal terms with back in January.
