City Not Feeling Charitable

The reality is that Micah Richards needs to leave City, for his own benefit if nothing else.

The long-serving, but still only 26-year-old, defender has been a peripheral figure with City for a few years now with injuries not helping him out during this time to be fair but now in the final year of his contract his exit is drawing closer and closer.

Yet still no move has yet been secured, despite all the rumour and speculation with Spurs now strongly linked with him….

Anyone thinking that they will get him on the cheap though needs to think again, and loaning him out for the season isn’t really something that the club are looking to do according to the Manchester Evening News.

Richards is someone that we want money for, something in the region of £5m plus ‘add-ons’.

If we’ll get this remains to be seen, the option of a loan deal to see out his City contract would only be contemplated if it was a relatively lucrative one in the Gareth Barry mould when he netted the club £2m from his season-long loan with Everton before exiting as a free agent this summer.

Will City get the offer they’re after?

Potentially Richards is well worth the risk but unfortunately given his injury record, and perhaps the wages he will command, it could be too much of a risk for some….

In other new, now that they have joined up with the squad for the US tour, it is also said that contract talks with Edin Dzeko, Joe Hart and James Milner will be opened.

Hart, who has two-years left on his current deal, and Dzeko, who is now in his final year, aren’t expected to be too problematic in tying down but Milner might take a little more convincing as he is looking for more playing time this season with Liverpool and Arsenal ‘monitoring the situation’.
