Club want to extend Man City player’s loan deal after injury setback

|

Nahuel Ferraresi has been a regular for Sao Paulo since joining the Brazilian outfit on a season-long loan last summer, helping them clean two clean sheets in his first three appearances, but the 24-year-old’s bright start has been hampered by injury.

UOL (h/t Sport Witness) say Ferraresi has picked up a knee problem which may require surgery, so the Venezuela international could be out of action for a number of months. Sao Paulo would like to extend his loan deal until the end of the year as a result, so they’ll have talks with City Football Group.

City have no reason to deny the request as Ferraresi doesn’t have a future in Manchester with John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake for competition. He’s been on the books for six years without making an appearance too, so it’s clear that ship has sailed.

The 24-year-old has been loaned out to a host of City Football Group clubs to continue his development and Sao Paulo were willing to turn the move permanent if his loan stint went well. It’s in City’s best interest to accept the request and hope Ferraresi plays well enough to have his buying option triggered.
