Report: Club ‘in talks’ with Man City over ‘promising’ youngster worth £7m

|

Manchester City signed Morgan Rogers from West Bromwich Albion in 2019 and the 18-year-old has gone on to score two goals in six games for the U18s, one goal with one assist in six games for the U19s and six goals with four assists in 25 games for the U23s.

Rodgers was loaned out to Lincoln City last season and had a hand in 10 goals from 28 games, but his future at the Etihad Stadium may be uncertain. The England youth international, who has represented the U15s, U16s, U17s and U18s, has interest from Crystal Palace who the Daily Mail say are ‘in talks’ over signing him.

The Eagles want to land the ‘promising’ youngster for around £7m, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be let go. Rogers is a highly-rated talent and could have a bright future at City, but the Sky Blues are willing to let him go so long as some performance-based bonuses are included in the deal.

City want a sell-on percentage and may request a buyback clause like they have done with other players in the past, but the Daily Mail don’t specify whether that is the case with Rodgers. If Palace are willing to match his asking price, they could land themselves a hot prospect for the future.
