Man City told signing ‘in-form’ 21 y/o ‘would be phenomenal’ after ‘rapid rise’ in Serie A

Manchester City have been linked with a move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Vital Man City questioned where he would fit in with so much competition in attack – Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Bernardo Silva, Julian Alvarez.

Dean Jones talked up the prospect of City landing his signature, however, and believes it would be “phenomenal” if they brought him in from Napoli just months after he joined the Serie A club. Kvaratskhelia has moved clubs twice in the last seven months and could be on the move again in January.

Jones told Give Me Sport: “It’s been a rapid rise for him so far, and if he got to City this quick, it would be pretty phenomenal to get up to that level. But he’s one of the most in-form players in the whole of Europe at the moment, he’s made a significant impact on that team.”

The Georgian international has led a nomadic career despite only being 21 years of age. He scored one goal with one assist from five appearances for Dinamo Tbilisi (2017/18), scored three goals with three assists from 18 appearances for Rustavi (2018 – 2019), scored one goal from 10 appearances for Lokomotiv Moscow (2019), scored nine goals with 18 assists from 73 appearances for Rubin Kazan (2019 – 2022) and scored eight goals with two assists from 11 appearances for Dinamo Batumi (2022).

And since joining Napoli over the summer, Kvaratskhelia has gone on to make 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals with eight assists. And while the 21-year-old is enjoying a quick rise to prominence, Napoli have him contracted until 2027, so they’re not obligated to cash in early. It might take a big offer to get their attention.
