Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Julian Alvarez have impressed for Manchester City this season, but Pep Guardiola hasn’t got much change from Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez, and reports from Italy suggest he might be considering an upgrade if the price is right.
Daniele Longo of Calciomercato (h/t Sport Witness) says City could battle Liverpool for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but it remains to be seen if either club stand a chance of procuring his signature. The 21-year-old is a new signing at Napoli, so he won’t be granted a departure any time soon.

Kvaratskhelia joined the Serie A side from Dinamo Batumi last summer, setting them back just £9m. He’s gone on to make 14 appearances in all competitions for Napoli, scoring seven goals with eight assists, so he’s contributed more goals than all but one City player.
The highly-rated Georgian international, who boasts 10 goals with six assists from 19 caps, has created more chances in the league (2 per game on average) than Foden (1.8) and has more successful dribbles (1.5) than Silva (0.9), so he would improve the squad.
But Kvaratskhelia has only been at Napoli for a handful of months and has a contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium until 2027, so City are barking up the wrong tree. Clubs could have signed him for £9m, but he’s sure to cost considerably more now.
