France boss Didier Deschamps has again reiterated that he has ‘no regrets’ about leaving Sami Nasri out of his world cup squad.

Deschamps is paid to make decisions and despite the season that Nasri had with City, which has earned him a new long-term contract, the 26-yearhasn’t replicated this on the international stage according to the world cup winner.

He told L’Equipe: ‘I watched his matches. He has a level of performance for his club and another in the French team.

‘Like any national team coach, I have important choices to make. Sporting criteria are important, but they are not everything.

‘I must not have any regrets. I have made my decision and we move on.

‘Did Nasri upset me? There are different characters and personalities. I don’t take into account rumours or what has happened in the past.

‘I have called on all players since August 2012 and I have seen them all on the pitch and in and around the group.’

I don’t watch the French national side so I can’t comment on how he may, or may not, perform for the national side but nevertheless the 41 times capped mans omission really was a surprise and France must have some real quality in their squad if they can leave Nasri out.

That being said how often have we seen players perform in the topflight over the years but fail to do much, if anything, with England!

It does happen….
