Benjamin Mendy came away with a lot of praise from supporters after Manchester City beat Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough to book their place in the quarter-final of the FA Cup. The Citizens won 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Sergio Aguero, but it was Mendy who provided the assist.
No City player made more interceptions and clearances than the French international while only Riyad Mahrez whipped in more crosses over the 90 minutes. Mendy saw a lot of the ball on Wednesday night, seldom relinquished possession and spent the majority of the game camped out in the Owls’ half. Fans were fully appreciative of his efforts.

Nowhere near our best but it was good enough. Mendy a bundle of energy all night & prob our best player, whilst Sergio did the necessary for the clincher. Safely through – you don’t get style points in the Cup #mcfc
