‘Father telling son to join City’ – Pep Guardiola receives transfer boost in pursuit of 21 y/o

|

It’s no secret Manchester City want Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium this summer, but their pursuit of the 21-year-old has hit a number of stumbling blocks. Mino Raiola, who represents Haaland, has requested a lot of money in agent fees and wages, but Real Madrid’s interest is also causing a problem.

The Norwegian international would reportedly prefer a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, but Real’s pursuit of Haaland may hinge on whether they sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. If they sign the latter, they may pull out of the race to sign the former, making City frontrunners for his signature.

Pep Guardiola’s hopes of signing Haaland have been further boosted recently too, as Football Insider claim the 21-year-old’s father Alf Inge Haaland is ‘telling his son to join City’ ahead of other clubs – Alf Inge spent three years at City as a player.

Erling has been pictured wearing City kit as a child, so the club is significant to the family. Whether it’s enough to beat out Real remains to be seen, but it’s great news for the Premier League leaders that his father is trying to persuade him to go to England.
