Frankie’s Winning Start

Frankie Bunn took charge of his first reserve game as the official reserve team manager and baring the odd silly mistake would have been very happy with the performance.
Altrincham took a shock lead when Kasper Schmeichel decided to fumble a free kick into the path of City fan Colin Little. He dispatched the ball into the far corner.
City were back level inside seven minutes when Kelvin Etuhu did some good work on the right flank found his teenage strike partner, Daniel Sturridge on the edge of the box and he turned sharply and fired low and hard into the bottom right of the net.
City controlled the game and Sturridge got his brace of goals in the thirty fourth minute when yet again movement down the right, this time by Willo Flood sent a ball across the face of goal and Sturridge forced the ball home from his midriff area.
Five minutes later the game was won when a Shaleum Logan long ball was well flicked on by Sturridge and Kelvin did well to outpace and muscle past Peter Band in defence and slot the ball past the onrushing Stuart Coburn in goal.
Little nearly scored his second a couple of minutes later but Schmeichel did really well to push the powerful drive over the bar.
The second half saw little goal mouth action as both teams made many changes. City played a trialist for just over sixty minutes, but I was reliably informed that we would not be persuing an interest.
So a good winning start for the reserves for Frankie and some good individual performances to build on for our next game; a week on Saturday(5th) at Hyde United.
