Gabriel Jesus made his long-awaited return for Manchester City in Tuesday evening’s Champions League win over Olympiacos and marked his first appearance since September with a brilliant goal.
The 23-year-old fired into the roof of the net from a tight angle to double our lead in the 81st minute and Pep Guardiola will be delighted with his contribution.
After Tuesday’s win over Olympiacos, we’re top of Group C with nine points from three games, having scored nine goals while conceding only once.

Against Olympiacos, Jesus played for 22 minutes, had 14 touches, completed 90.9% of his 11 passes and had two shots with 50% hitting the target. He has two goals from two games this season and should make the matchday squad ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Liverpool.
Prior to Tuesday’s outing, Jesus’ last appearance was in our 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers (September 21). He picked up a thigh injury against Wolves and missed nine games in all competitions.
Sergio Aguero was also out of action with Jesus, so Guardiola had to call upon Ferran Torres, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez to operate as a makeshift centre-forward.
Having Jesus back is a big boost.
