New Years Day 2011 will be remembered by Leicester City’s on-loan defender Greg Cunningham for all the wrong reasons after breaking his leg against Hull City.

The Republic of Ireland cap, 19, on loan from Manchester City, suffered the injury as a result of Liam Rosenior’s tackle which saw him sent off.

‘It’s a broken tibia, which could mean he is probably away for four months,’ said Foxes manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

‘He’s in hospital and he’ll have an operation today or tomorrow.’

The former Manchester City and England boss added…

‘It is important to say that as far as Rosenior was concerned, it was not stupid. It was bad luck and he didn’t mean to do it, so there should be no shadow over him.’

Here are a few messages taken from our forum thread.

StuMCFC – Very sad news, apparently he has been impressive for Leicester too. We’ve loaned them Ben Mee now to strengthen their defence.

PhillyBlueMoon – So, are we going to sue them, fight for him to be vilified in the papers, ruin his career, talk about how dirty a player he is…or just accept that it’s part of football and that shite happens?

I also wish him a speedy recovery, as I think he has a future with us.

johnkelv – A very good quick young prospect, hope he is playing again this season.

We at Vital Manchester City wish Greg a speedy recovery.
