You won’t find many anti-City brigade hacks or pundits reporting the livewire Blackpool gaffer Ian Holloway’s pro City comments this weekend! Post Match Reaction latest…

Ian Holloway:

Blackpool once again impressed and gave City a stern test:

‘We threw everything we had at them after being hesitant in the first half. Matt Phillips came on and gave us hope in the second half turning the full backs inside out and we lost to a horrendous goal.’

Assessment of the narrow result out of the way, the Tangerines’ boss then became just about the first person in English football outside Manchester to postively acknowledge the revolution that has taken place in East Manchester:

‘What I would say though is that City are a quality club and someone is doing things right there. The stadium, the hospitality – where my wife spent the afternoon – even the ugly crash barriers which have covers over them are all top quality.

‘It is all quality there – they are a class act. You know they even had City and Blackpool rock on the tables! Still we lost so its bah humbug from me.’

Ian Holloway, Respect.

David Platt:

‘Blackpool were very expansive and the way they play they always looked as though they might score. We were probably the happier of the two sides at the final whistle. What we didn’t do was take one of our good opportunities to score the all-important second goal as we have done recently.’

City have emerged from the holiday period with nine points from nine and are now preparing for a potentially season defining clash at Arsenal. Planet Blue has fitness concerns over the brilliant David Silva and the enigmatic Mario Balotelli. Platty:

‘Silva got a bang on the knee. We will see in the morning how he is. The good thing is that he was able to walk off. Mario had a swollen knee yesterday which is a hangover from his operation; he came in today and the swelling had gone down.’

…and in the VMC Forums…

CITYBOY 1000:

‘Shame we didn’t take a few of the chances as this would have taken a lot of pressure of the lads and enabled them to express themselves at home against an attack-minded Blackpool who came to play.’

Philly Blue Moon:

‘Joe Hart kept us in this game and the title race. Man of the match, certainly.’

Thai Blue Fan:

‘That was one of those games we would have drawn last year.’

never stops:

‘It’s safe to say that everyone has a bad day, today Tevez is no exemption and he had bad day especially for his shots on target. Star performance from Joe Hart helped us to win this game.’

Blue Ponderer:

‘Have to give Blackpool credit for giving us a real game in the 2nd half.’

eighthsin:

‘Good three points there. I wouldnt read too much into the fact that Blackpool finished the stronger side, they have hardly played over the past few weeks so they had much fresher legs than us…Poor day at the office for Tevez by his standards, but it wasn’t for the want of trying. Onwards and upwards!’

CITY AT ARSENAL ON VMC:

Head for the VMC Match Day Experience Forum for the build up and beyond to City’s crunch revenge mission at The Emirates Stadium. Can The Blues go 8 games unbeaten under Mancio in Laandaarn Taarn?
