Nicky Weaver will retain his place in goal for a few more weeks and continue deputise for the injured Andreas Isaksson.

Isaksson who was signed recently for £2m from French club Rennes, injured his foot in training during the pre-season and so far has not featured for City in a competitive game so far.

A scan has shown some loose bone around his ankle which will require minor surgery to remove. If all goes well with the operation, Isaksson is expected to resume training in about a fortnight.

Although this is a big disappointment for the player himself and for the fans who have yet to see him play, Pearce will not rush Isaksson into the team and risk further injury.

In the meantime, Nicky Weaver has put in two solid displays in goal so far and will need to be on top form against the Gooners on Saturday.

With Kasper Schmeichel back on loan with Bury, Joe Hart will be called into action should anything happen to Weaver.
