One area the Old Lady are looking to bolster is in midfield and CalcioMercatoWeb say they have their sights set on signing Ilkay Gundogan when the winter transfer window opens.

The 31-year-old has made 13 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City this season, scoring two goals with one assist. Gundogan has only started one Premier League game since early-September, but he’s the club captain and regularly features in Europe.
Pep Guardiola still considers the German international an important player even if he’s not starting every single game, so it’s highly unlikely that City will sell him. Letting a player of Gundogan’s calibre leave mid-season would force the Sky Blues to replace him within a month too.
The 31-year-old is out of contract next summer and could leave Manchester City on a free transfer if he doesn’t put pen to paper on an extension, but a departure won’t be sanctioned in January even if his long-term future is unresolved.
Gundogan has said in the past that his staying will depend on playing time, so he’s likely to extend his contract provided he’s not left on the bench. Juventus might have to turn their attention elsewhere.
