Midfielder Frank Lampard has now officially become a Manchester City player for a loan period.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini had earlier confirmed the speculation that we had agreed a loan deal with his new club New York City for the next few months, but the paperwork hadn’t gone through and it did presumably late yesterday evening, as Lampard training with the team this morning for the first time.

Speaking to the Official Site prior to his arrival at the training ground, the England midfielder said of the move.

‘Joining up Manchester City is a fantastic opportunity for me to continue to train and play at the top level and make sure I am in top condition for New York City. It has been an amazing few days for me since the unveiling in Brooklyn and everyone connected with both clubs has been fantastic to me. This is a new chapter of my career and I’m really excited about the experience.’

Pellegrini said further of the player.

‘Frank is a world class midfielder and this is an opportunity which works perfectly for everyone. I’m looking forward to working with him and integrating him into our squad.’

As per the terms of the loan deal, Lampard is eligible for all competitions during his time with us, including European action and he has been handed the No 18 shirt.
