Jack Rodwell’s departure from City for Sunderland has been officially confirmed.

Rumours were very strong that the 23-year-old was on his way to the Stadium of Light, he’s been destined for an Etihad exit all summer, with his signing for them on a five-year deal announced by City earlier today.

Former City players Adam Johnson and Costel Pantilimon, who signed this summer on a free, are all ready at the Stadium of Light so the England international will be in familiar company.

No details of a fee were announced but its commonly believed that Sunderland paid around £10m for the player signed by Roberto Mancini two-years ago for £12m from Everton. A change of managers and injury problems never helped him during his time with City.

Rodwell will do well, hopefully not too well though and especially against City this season!
