Man City identify £46.7m replacement for Walker with more goals and assists than Grealish

Kyle Walker is 32 years of age, missed 26 games in all competitions this season and has two years remaining on his deal at the Etihad Stadium, so he might be in the eve of his Manchester City career.

The England international found himself behind Joao Cancelo in the pecking order at times and will eventually need replacing when Pep Guardiola deems him expendable, so is that why City are eyeing Chelsea’s Reece James?

Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail says James has an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge as he’s yet to enter talks over a new deal. City and Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the situation, but the former may have a fervent need to sign him.

James rose through the youth ranks to Chelsea’s first-team, scoring two goals with eight assists from 42 games for the U18s, grabbing three assists from eight games for the U19s and scoring four goals with three assists from 29 games for the U23s.

The £46.7m-rated 22-year-old has gone on to make 123 appearances at senior level, scoring nine times with 18 assists. James featured in 39 games across the board last season, scoring more league goals (5) and making more assists (9) than Jack Grealish (3-3), so he’d be a brilliant addition to the squad.

Whether City actually sign him remains to be seen, however, as his current deal runs until 2025.
