Man City send scouts to watch 16 y/o wonderkid from Brazil with £51.6m release clause

Manchester City have brought in young talent from South America in recent years, with the aim of developing them into first-team players or selling them on for a profit – Nahuel Bustos (£5.85m from CA Talleres 2020/21), Diego Rosa (£5.4m from Gremio in 2020/21), Yan Couto (£5.4m from Coritiba FC in 2020/21), Douglas Luiz (£10.8m from Vasco Da Gama) – and Vinicius Nicoletti of ESPN says they have their eye on another hot prospect from Brazil – Endrick.

The 16-year-old has quickly risen through the youth ranks to Palmeiras’ first-team, scoring six goals in five games for their U20s and bagging two goals with one assist from four games at senior level.

Endrick wasn’t in the picture at the beginning of the season but started to make the matchday squad in mid-September. He was an unused substitute in three consecutive Brazilian Serie A games until being introduced for 21 minutes in Palmeiras’ 4-0 win over Coritiba. He’s since played in four of their last five league outings and looks to have a bright future.

Nicoletti says Man City and Real Madrid have sent scouts to watch the wonderkid who boasts five goals in four games for Brazil U17s, so it’s clear they regard him as a real talent.

Palmeiras have Endrick contracted until 2025 and slapped a release clause of €60m (£51.6m) on his head, however, so they won’t give him up early and without a fight.
