Man City tipped to sign “special” 24-goal star as Aguero alternative

Speaking to talkSPORT via the Daily Express, former Man City midfielder Trevor Sinclair has tipped the Sky Blues to rival Man United over signing Wolves star Raul Jimenez – claiming he would be the ‘perfect signing‘ for Pep Guardiola.

Jimenez, who has scored an impressive 24 goals in all competitions this season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, is currently being targeted by arch rivals United as they aim to bolster their forward line.

Who should replace Aguero?

However, Sinclair believes that Jimenez would also be an asset across the city at Eastlands, claiming he could replicate ex-striker Edin Dzeko in terms of aerial presence and proficiency.

As club legend Sergio Aguero nears the end of his illustrious City career, where he managed to become our club’s all time top goalscorer and deliver one of the most memorable moments during our entire 125-year history, Txiki Begiristain and co may need to ponder searching for a replacement.

Gabriel Jesus has been tipped to take that mantle in the past, especially considering his own impressive haul over 2019/2020, but Sinclair believes Jimenez would also be a perfect alternative to Aguero.

Described as a ‘special‘ player by Espirito Santo just last month, the Mexico international is currently valued at around £36 million by Transfermarkt, but Wolves could demand a higher fee.

Regardless, Sinclair spoke of the importance surrounding a potential aerial threat upfront that City currently lack, claiming Jimenez could be the answer due to his hold up play and mobility.

Whether or not City do in fact go for the 29-year-old remains to be seen, but it would arguably be a great signing.
