Report: Man City turn attention to 6ft 1in Leicester City man after missing out on 35 y/o

Manchester City missed out on signing Sergio Ramos after the 35-year-old agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain, but Ajansspor say City have turned their attention to Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu.

The 25-year-old has been a regular for the Foxes since his arrival from SC Freiburg in 2018, becoming one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs in the last three years.

Although City aren’t short of options at the back with John Stones, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake, Laporte is considering a move away due to a lack of playing time while Ake has struggled for fitness since last summer’s move from Bournemouth, so there may be a vacancy for Soyuncu.

Leicester are unlikely to sell, however, as he’s an important player in the squad. Soyuncu has made 82 appearances in all competitions for City and has helped them finish 9th, 5th and 5th in his three seasons at the King Power Stadium.

The 6ft 1in defender made 32 appearances across the board last season and kept 11 clean sheets. He won 63 aerial duels, blocked nine shots, made 79 clearances and averaged a tackle (28) or interception (28) every 32 minutes in 23 Premier League games, so it’s easy to see why Man City are interested.

Whether their pursuit is successful remains to be seen, however.
