Report: Man City eye left-back with 18 goal contributions to replace Mendy, 28 y/o also on radar

Benjamin Mendy could be on his way out of Manchester City this summer and the Sky Blues have been linked with Alex Sandro, Nuno Mendes, David Alaba and Gabriel Gudmundsson as potential replacements.

FC Inter News (h/t Sport Witness) say Robin Gosens is on their radar while the Daily Mail note Nicolas Tagliafico is an option, so City have plenty of successors for the 26-year-old.

Gosens has impressed at Atalanta this season, scoring 10 goals and making eight assists in 38 games across the board, so it’s no surprise Pep Guardiola is monitoring his progress.

The German international is out of contract in 2022, however, so his long-term future at the Stadio di Bergamo is uncertain. Gosens might not want to sign an extension with Atletico Madrid and Juventus reportedly keen, so City have an opportunity to pounce this summer.

Alaba is no longer a target as he’s closing in on Real Madrid, but Tagliafico remains a player they’re keen on. The 28-year-old has made 39 appearances in all competitions this season and could be available for £13m. Ajax won’t stand in his way of a departure, so he’s a viable option if Gosens can’t be lured to Manchester.

In other news, Man City have been told to sign a 24 y/o with more goals than Gundogan as replacement for Aguero
