David Ornstein of The Athletic says Manchester City have a ‘long-standing interest’ in Harry Kane, but their pursuit of the 27-year-old may fall apart as Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is ‘reluctant to strengthen’ a Premier League rival.

Pep Guardiola has Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus at his disposal, but both players have uncertain futures at the Etihad.
Aguero is out of contract this summer and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal that has been on the table all season while Jesus might be replaced as he’s struggled for consistency in 2020/21.
Aguero has scored 256 goals in 381 games for the Sky Blues since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011 (Transfermarkt), so he’s almost irreplaceable. Kane is the only Premier League player that comes close, with 212 goals in 323 games for Spurs (Transfermarkt), but it’s hard to see Levy selling him to City.
If the Lilywhites lose Kane, they could go on to lose other important players from the squad, so their chances of success diminish. There’s no doubt Guardiola would love to sign the English international, but Kane has three more years on his contract and is seemingly happy in North London.
