City are on the hunt for a striker as Sergio Aguero could be on his way out when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 32-year-old has endured an injury-hit campaign at the Etihad Stadium and has spoken about returning to Argentina or Spain.

Gabriel Jesus has an uncertain future in Manchester too, as he’s struggled for consistency and playing time in 2020/21, scoring just six goals in 20 Premier League games while being substituted on and substituted off 40% of the time  (Transfermarkt).

Mbappe has already scored 142 career goals in 216 games for AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, so he’ll be a major improvement on both Aguero and Jesus (Transfermarkt). The Athletic say one big problem are his wages. Mbappe earns €398k-per-week at PSG which would make him City’s highest-earner.

Whether he wants to leave the Parisians for Manchester is another matter. Nevertheless, it doesn’t appear City are going to pursue him this summer.
