Man City in five-way race to sign 5ft 7in man, club rejected €70m bid from Euro giants

According to MSN, Manchester City are interested in Tete and may have to battle Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Leicester City and Newcastle United to procure his signature.

The 20-year-old has scored 15 goals and made 12 assists in 63 games since joining Shakhtar Donetsk from Gremio in February 2019, and is a regular under Luis Castro this season.

Shakhtar are keen to keep Tete at the National Sports Complex and MSN say they’ve already turned down a €70m (£62.6m) offer from Bayern. Whether City are willing to make an improved bid on that figure remains to be seen.

Pep Guardiola has Ferran Torres, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahred and Raheem Sterling at his disposal, so he’s not in need of adding another attacker to his squad, especially one for more than €70m.

The 5ft 7in uncapped Brazilian has three years remaining on his deal, so Shakhtar hold all the cards with negotiating. Unless an existing player leaves City, however, it’s unlikely Tete would be coming in the opposite direction.
