His full name is Mateo Joseph Fernández-Regatillo, but he goes by Mateo and could have a bright future after impressing at youth level. In 2018/19, the youngster scored 15 goals in 13 games for Espanyol Cadete. And in 2019/20, he bagged 15 goals in 22 games for Espanyol B Juvenil.

Pep Guardiola hasn’t been shy in developing young talent at City, giving numerous teenagers opportunities in the first-team this season. He’s handed 676 minutes of playing time to five players under the age of 20 while using 10 players aged 21 and under throughout the course of the campaign.

Mateo wouldn’t be an immediate replacement for Aguero, but he could eventually develop into a first-team player. Guardiola is likely to sign a more tried and tested striker regardless of Mateo, so he may not be the only centre-forward coming to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
