Report: Man City keen on 248-goal man, Guardiola hopes to ‘bring him’ back to Manchester

|

Sergio Aguero’s impending departure has Manchester City scouring the transfer market for a replacement and Sportmediaset (h/t FC Inter 1908) say Romelu Lukaku is on their radar.

The 27-year-old has just won the title with Inter Milan and is indispensable, but the Nerazzurri’s financial situation might force them to part company with valuable assets.

Lukaku joined Inter from Manchester United in 2019 and has gone on to make 92 appearances in all competitions, scoring 61 goals with 15 assists. The Belgian international has been prolific in Serie A, netting 23 league goals last season and 21 league goals this campaign, so it’s easy to see why City are keen.

Aguero has scored 258 goals in 388 games for City, so Pep Guardiola wants a player that can fill his shoes. Lukaku has 248 career goals which is likely why the City boss wants to ‘bring him’ back to Manchester. Whether he’s successful in his pursuit remains to be seen, however.

Lukaku hasn’t shown any desire to exit the San Siro either, so City might be barking up the wrong tree.
