He may have only started his contract which runs to the end of the season, but Emile Mpenza is already making his presence known among the fans.

His first goal for Man City came against Middlesbrough in their 2-0 win which marked his first start for the Blues. I see this as a huge step forward because we now have a striker who seems to be able to find the back of the net, but then goal scoring has never been a problem with Mpenza, who has bagged 17 goals in 57 appearances for his country Belgium.

His Previous Clubs include Standard Liège (twice), FC Schalke 04, R.E. Mouscron, K.V. Kortrijk, Hamburger SV and Al Rayyan.

Mpenza spoke exclusively to a Belgian radio station, where he stated his desire to prove to critics, that he still has what it takes to cut it in the Top Flight.

“I am not finished and I will prove it in Manchester, I make this move as revenge with respect to all those who criticised my decision to play in Qatar.’

Some City fans had reservations about Pearce`s decision to sign Mpenza; however I have never doubted Pearce’s signing. Bearing in mind City`s other striker`s are faltering, Pearce has impressed me with finding someone with his attributes . I am not saying our goal scoring problem is solved, but I believe our survival chances have been boosted by Mpenza`s arrival.

Pearce has already begun praising Mpenza on his performances for Man City since arriving. He believes he has settled well into English Football, and has boosted the spirits in the City camp.

‘He`s been a bonus for us, no doubt about that. If you take anyone outside of the transfer window there has to be a reason for it, but he has done well since arriving. He`s a quiet man, and you do wonder what`s going on inside his head at times! But, his English has improved since he first arrived and now he`s being a bit more vocal. He`s still quiet and a bit shy, but he can be proud of what he`s achieving.”

I am positive Mpenza`s performances will only get better, and I hope Pearce keeps him beyond the end of the season.
