Former Manchester City player Joey Barton has been released from prison after just serving two months of his original six-month sentence for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

Barton’s defence team told the judge, who dealt with the charge of assault that the footballer was remorseful.

In sentencing, Judge Globe told him…

‘You were restrained by others but ignored them and acted in an extremely violent and aggressive manner.’

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan went on record to say…

‘Joey and I will need to have a meeting but I’m willing to give him a second chance.’
