‘He would be a great addition to any squad’ – Pundit tells Man City to sign 106 cap international

Toni Kroos is out of contract at Real Madrid next summer and has turned down a new deal, so he could be on the move at the end of the season. Paul Robinson believes Manchester City should try to sign him in 2023 as he’d improve the midfield.

City have been linked with the 32-year-old as Pep Guardiola managed him at Bayern Munich and may want to renew acquaintances. Robinson says it would be a ‘no-brainer’ to procure his signature and warns that City shouldn’t let a rival club strengthen themselves with the playmaker.

He told Football Insider: “That would be a no-brainer. He would be a great addition to any squad. He brings so much experience and quality. Yes, he is the wrong side of thirty, but he will be going to a team that is competing in the Champions League.

“There is going to be a host of clubs after him I’m sure. Somebody is going to benefit from having a brilliant player next year.”

Kroos has made six appearances in all competitions this season and has been a regular under Carlo Ancelotti, but he may not be at Real in 2023.

Guardiola would love a player of Kroos’ quality, having unlocked his magic when the pair worked together at Bayern, but he’s unlikely to get into the starting eleven over Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.

That being said, Guardiola may not be happy letting a rival club get a player of Kroos’ calibre. He’s too good to turn down if available on a free transfer, so Robinson is right to call him a ‘no-brainer’.
