Opinion: City Snubbed By TV Companies – It’s Appalling

|

Not everyone can, week in, week out afford to go to the Etihad or travel to away games, and even if you could, would your employer allow you the time off.

Manchester City is the team to watch (I would say that wouldn’t I) – even a neutral would agree. And so why, in my opinion, are Sky and BT Sport avoiding us like the plague?

I have to say, that conspiracy theory about everyone hating MCFC is beginning to ring true. In my mind it is.

Carabao Cup

Sky has abandoned us even though we’re the current champions in favour of Manchester United vs. Derby County. I mean, the home of Oxford United struggles to hold 12,000 spectators and yet we Blues will be yet again left to our own devices.

I know Sky will show, via their Sky Sports News channel all of the League Cup goals as they go in but that’s not the point.

City live on Sky and BT

If you’re a BT Sports subscriber, then you can forget watching a live Manchester City Premier League fixture. I have checked their schedules until the end of November and guess what. Nothing.

One can argue you can watch us playing Champions League ties but hey. Whoopy-do. They (BT) have the TV rights for every UCL game anyway.

Sky

Sunday 7 October

We’re on – Liverpool away. Kick-off 4.30pm.

Monday 29 October

This fixture has been rearranged to accommodate a Monday night game, away at Tottenham. I know I can’t have it both ways but the late change of date and time wasn’t the best, especially when travelling Blues had to rearrange their travel plans.

Manchester derby – Sunday 11 November – kick-off 4.30pm.

Premier League games snubbed by the TV companies

Saturday 29 September

Brighton (H)

Saturday 20 October

Burnley (H)

Saturday 3 November

Southampton (H)

Saturday 24 November

West Ham United (A)

Sky and BT Sport will announce their December and January 2019 schedules within the coming weeks. However, what are the odds on the Bournemouth (H) on Saturday 1 December, and Tuesday 4, Watford (A) fixtures being snubbed?
