Manchester City signed Nahuel Bustos from Club Atletico Talleres in the summer transfer window and immediately loaned him out to Girona so he’d develop with regular first-team football at a City Football Group club, but the 22-year-old has struggled for form and playing time in Spain which has lost him suitors.

Bustos was on the radar of Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi when City procured his signature, but Estadio Deportivo say he’s withdrawing his interest after Bustos’ disappointing campaign at the Estadi Montilivi. The uncapped Argentinean hasn’t managed a league goal all season and no longer starts under Juan Carlos Unzué, so he’s not exactly put himself in the shop window.

Bustos has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Girona, scoring two goals and supplying three assist, but he’s goaless in 19 La Liga games this season and has only amassed 111 minutes of playing time from a possible 900 in 2021 as a result (Transfermarkt).

The 22-year-old cost City €6.5m (£5.6m) just months ago and has four years remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, so he isn’t likely to go anywhere permanently this summer. City might loan Bustos out next season, but things are still up in the air.
