Opinion: Stand Aside United – The Man City / Liverpool Rivalry Has Escalated & More Important

|

The long-running battles, bitching and slagging off of Manchester United fans and club will, as a Blue, live long in my memory. I mean I’ve been doing it for half a century…who am I trying to kid…I will continue to do so. It’s in my DNA.

I don’t like the colour red. I don’t like Old Trafford, and I hate the way, when it comes to live match coverage here in the UK Sky, and BT Sport generally give them special treatment (that’s another story).

Rivalry

With Jose Mourinho at the helm (hope he remains in-post for years to come), I don’t see Manchester United as a threat, not like they once were. They were always a thorn in our side, but recent results suggest otherwise. Final derby of last season apart.

The team I see as our arch rivals NOW and for the foreseeable future is no other than Liverpool. We’ve had spectacular games over the last 12 to 18 months, and I don’t see anything changing.

Another situation, (when I think about it) is when the scousers recently trashed the City coach as it approached Anfield ahead of the Champions League quarter-final first leg. I will never forget how the City players and staff were treated. Shame on you so-called Liverpool fans.

Ask a neutral or a fan from the lower echelons, and they will tell you the team who finish above Manchester City this season will win the 2018/19 Premier League title. The thing is, no one mentions United or Chelsea these days. It’s always Liverpool.

I mentioned above, I have a thing with the colour red and low and behold the Merseyside lot happen to have the same shade as Moaning Maureen’s shambolic lot.

The first proper rivals EPL fixture of the season, away at Liverpool is fast approaching – Sunday 7 October. Can we do another 5-0?

How many of you Blues think the Man City / Liverpool rivalry has outgrown the United one?
