‘Outstanding’ – Journalists say Man City midfielder ‘reached his peak’ v Liverpool

|

Manchester City drew 2-2 with Liverpool on Sunday evening and Kevin De Bruyne was one of many players who impressed. The 30-year-old started alongside Rodri and Bernardo Silva in midfielder and was the best player on the pitch by some distance.

No City player created more chances or whipped in as many crosses as De Bruyne while only Gabriel Jesus was fouled more at the Etihad Stadium. The Belgian international even opened the scoring with a deflected effort in the fifth minute too, so he greatly contributed over the 90 minutes.

Ian Whittell of the Telegraph gave De Bruyne a player rating of 9/10 and called his performance ‘outstanding’. Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail gave the 30-year-old a player rating of 8/10 and said he’s ‘reached his peak’ at the right time.

Peter Smith of Sky Sports gave De Bruyne a player rating of 8/10 and said performances against Liverpool are why he’s still so highly-rated. Finally, Stuart Brennan of Manchester Evening News gave the Belgian a player rating of 8/10 and said he was unlucky to have an assist ruled out for offside.

De Bruyne has made 36 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 14 goals with eight assists. He’s been fantastic under Pep Guardiola and could well be leading the Sky Blues to another Premier League title.
