Report: Defender could leave Man City, player agrees personal terms, president agrees fee

|

Pedro Porro is expected to leave Man City for Sporting this summer after impressing on loan and Record (h/t Sport Witness) say the Portuguese Primeira Liga side are finally closing in on a deal.

The 21-year-old is believed to have agreed personal terms with Sporting and the club president Frederico Varandas is believed to have agreed a fee of less than €8.5m (£7.2m)

Porro joined City from Girona in 2019 but has yet to make an appearance for City. He was loaned out to Real Valladolid (August 2019 – July 2020) days after joining the Premier League champions and went on to make 15 appearances for them.

Porro agreed a two-season loan at Sporting (August 2020 – June 2022) after returning from Spain and is now in the process of making his stay permanent midway through the loan deal.

Pep Guardiola has Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo who can operate at right-back, so Porro never stood a chance of getting first-team football at City. Admittedly, he wasn’t given an opportunity to prove his worth either, but this could be Sporting’s gain now.

City should wish him well in Portugal when the deal is finally confirmed.
