Ahead of Monday’s Premier League opener against West Bromwich Albion in front of the cameras, manager Manuel Pellegrini has said he’s ‘sure’ Manchester City can retake the Premier League crown from Chelsea in 2015-16.

Giving his pre game press conference (I presume) Sky Sports have him quoted as saying.

‘I am absolutely sure that we are going to have a very successful season. We must bring back the title here to our fans.’

Key to that Pellegrini went on to say is in City showing more consistency than we did last year, and for many it would go without saying that not having every senior striker at the club injured for what felt like three months would help as well.

‘All together, we must win game by game to try to do it. We need to play in the way we know how to play to continue with our attacking style and score the most amount of goals. We are sure, as I have just said, that we are going to bring it back. We had a good pre-season. We have been working for around 30 days and we are going to arrive next Monday in our best shape.’

With transfer dealings now quiet apart from the never ending speculation that surrounds the club, Pellegrini also confirmed that he hasn’t necessarily finished in the market this summer but he didn’t believe he would be making a move for another forward despite Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony being the only natural strikers we have with deals agreed seeing Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko move on.

Whilst not being out and out strikers, he feels we have enough cover from others who can do duel roles.

‘We have Kelechi Iheanacho, that is a young player who I think must find a place here in our squad. Raheem Sterling can also play in front. I think we are going to bring in other players but not in that position.’

Seems a more somewhat subtle change to youth this summer when you look at pre season games, let’s hope when the chance comes their way they can definitely fill the gap and do a job.
