Manager Manuel Pellegrini has conceded that defeat to Liverpool earlier today has dented our title hopes, but nobody is giving up and it isn’t over yet.

Having fallen behind twice in the game at Anfield, we have not won at their home ground in 13 attempts despite the manager calling on the team to rectify that and we are now five points behind Chelsea, with them having a game in hand.

Speaking to the Official Site following the two one defeat, Pellegrini admitted this wasn’t the response he wanted to our midweek loss to Barcelona as he was looking for a reaction.

He couldn’t however blame goalkeeper Joe Hart because he knows we conceded quality strikes.

‘I think they scored two beautiful goals, both from the edge of the box and impossible for Joe Hart to save. It was a close game, we had chances – David Silva, Kun hit the post and had another chance.’

Pellegrini also dismissed suggestions that going with 442 cost us the match.

‘It was the best decision. In the first half it was a close game. When they wont he game we were playing with just one striker so that wasn’t the problem.’

It has however given rise to plenty commenting on how we were overrun in midfield again.

‘It’s three points less, when we drop points it’s difficult to try to reach the top of the table. We must try to continue, to win the next game and as many games as we can, and we’ll see where we finish.’

With that being the OS’s coverage of his after game press conference, others also have him quoted as saying.

‘I’m concerned that we are losing the ball too much – pressure is a factor. There is much we must analyse to improve. We never give up about the title. In football you never know what will happen. It is more difficult when you have less games and you continue with the same points butt he team must think about the next game. We cannot lose so many balls with the technical players we have. In the first half we lost too many balls, especially in the first 15 minutes.’
