Report: Player could leave Man City but won’t join PL rivals as part of £100m deal

|

Raheem Sterling recently admitted being disappointed at the lack of playing time at Manchester City and ESPN say he could be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Real Madrid, but he’s recently been mentioned as a potential makeweight to a £100m deal with Tottenham Hotspur that would see Harry Kane moving in the opposite direction.

ESPN say Sterling isn’t open to a move to Tottenham, however, so the City forward won’t be going to North London any time soon. He’d rather be in control of his future and be able to pick his next club if he leaves.

Sterling made 49 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 14 goals with 12 assists, but he struggled for minutes in the latter stages of the Champions League and didn’t always start in the Premier League.

The England international amassed only 107 minutes from City’s last six games in Europe and started only five of their previous 10 league outings, so his future is uncertain.

But it doesn’t appear he’ll leave City to join anyone, so a bigger club than Tottenham might have to test his resolve.
