Report: Club closing in on Man City man, 22 y/o wants to leave due to Guardiola treatment

|

Pedro Porro could be on his way out of Manchester City this summer as he’s currently on loan at Sporting and has the option to sign for them permanently. The 22-year-old has never made an appearance under Pep Guardiola and Record (h/t Sport Witness) say he wants to stay in Portugal.

Sporting can sign Porro for €8.5m (£7.2m) and are closing in on his signature, but the two clubs are negotiating a buyback fee. City want the option to bring the Spanish international back to the Etihad Stadium for €20m (£16.8m) before green-lighting his transfer.

Porro joined City from Girona in 2019 and has yet to feature for the Sky Blues. The 22-year-old was loaned out to Real Valladolid (August 2019 – July 2020) and Sporting (August 2020 – present) as he finds himself behind Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo in the pecking order, but this summer could see him moved on permanently.

Porro isn’t happy being surplus to requirements under Guardiola and enjoys being a regular at the Estádio José Alvalade, so a deal should get over the line. Porro has played in 27 games this season, having a hand in 10 goals, so he’s added value to Sporting’s backline.
