Report: Defender closes in on Man City exit, club rumoured to have ‘total agreement’ over deal

Pedro Porro is currently on loan at Sporting and could join the Portuguese Primeira Liga side permanently at the end of the season as there’s a buying option attached to the deal.

The 22-year-old hasn’t played a single minute of football for Manchester City but has flourished at the José Alvalade Stadium, so it’s expected he will sign before next summer.

Record (h/t Sport Witness) say things have progressed quickly with Porro and there’s a ‘total agreement’ between both sides. The Spanish international is tipped to sign a five-year contract at Sporting with a €45m release clause.

Sporting need only pay €8.5m to sign Porro, but there may be more negotiations as City want a buyback clause attached to safeguard them from him realising his potential elsewhere.

Record add that Porro might not stay at Sporting beyond 2021 even if he does sign permanently due to growing interest from European clubs. The 22-year-old has impressed in Portugual and has a lot of suitors.

It’s exactly why City want a buyback clause attached, but the Premier League defending champions can’t stand in his way of a departure. All they can do is have a way of bringing him back in the future without breaking the bank.

In other news, door still open for Man City to sign 20 y/o for £13.5m as club failed to make bid
