Report: Man City eye ‘fundamental’ Aston Villa man, player has impressed scouts

|

Manchester City aren’t short of midfielders with Rodri, Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva at their disposal, but Fichajes say they’re on the hunt for another midfielder – Jacob Ramsey.

The 20-year-old is described as a ‘fundamental’ player at Aston Villa and looks to have a bright future after breaking into the first-team – Ramsey has made 33 appearances since being promoted to the senior squad.

City want a playmaker that operates high up the pitch, so Ramsey would be a good addition. But it remains to be seen whether he’s better than what the Premier League champions already have.

Villa aren’t going to let him leave easily either. Dean Smith has given the England youth international plenty of opportunities in the last 18 months while tying him down to a long-term contract, so the club are protected.

Fichajes concede that Ramsey’s asking price could be lofty as Villa consider him an important player while recognising that City are blessed with lucrative resources, so he won’t come cheap.

And although scouts have been watching Ramsey in addition to Pep Guardiola being interest, it remaibs to be seen whether City lodge an official bid.
