Report: Man City identify 23 y/o replacement for Benjamin Mendy worth £45m

|

Manchester City were after a left-back this summer when Benjamin Mendy was going to be moved on and looked at Nuno Mendes, David Alaba, Nicolas Taglifico and Robin Gosens among others, but they opted against bringing anyone in because Mendy was staying.

Now the 27-year-old has been suspended after the Crown Prosecution Services brought charges to him, so Man City may need a new left-back. Calciomercato say Theo Hernandez could be on their radar as Pep Guardiola doesn’t seem to trust Oleksandr Zinchenko this season.

The 23-year-old joined AC Milan from Real Madrid in 2019 and has gone on to make 83 appearances in all competitions, scoring 15 goals with 14 assists. Hernandez has three years remaining on his deal at the San Siro, but it remains to be seen if he’ll see them out given the interest elsewhere.

Calciomercato say Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on the £45m-rated Frenchman and could battle City for his signature, so time will tell where he ends up. Milan finished second in Serie A last season but were 12 points adrift of leaders Inter, so Hernandez’ best chances of winning a title may be with City or PSG.
