Report: Man City man ‘frustrated’ with lack of playing time and ‘asked’ to leave in January

|

There are little under six weeks to go before the winter transfer window opens and Raheem Sterling is one player who could be on his way out of Manchester City if reports are to be believed.

The 26-year-old admitted being unhappy over the summer with a lack of playing time last season and Mundo Deportivo say he’s ‘asked’ Man City for a January departure as he remains ‘frustrated’ with the current situation.

Sterling made 49 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 14 goals with 12 assists, but he hardly featured in the latter stages of the Champions League and was an unused substitute at times in the Premier League.

This season, the England international has made 16 appearances across the board, scoring three goals with two assists, but he’s only amassed 790 minutes from a possible 1440.

Sterling has been linked with a move to Barcelona and appears open to joining the Catalans on loan in January, but it remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola would let him leave mid-season.

The 26-year-old is an important player even if he’s not a regular in the starting lineup, so it would hurt City if they were to let him go.
