Manchester City recently agreed a deal to sign Julian Alvarez– a highly-rated Argentine from River Plate who will officially join the club next season – but they don’t appeared to be finished this month.
Mike McGrath of the Telegraph says City are ‘on the brink’ of signing Zalán Vancsa – a ‘Hungarian wonderkid’ from MTK Budapest who attracted interest from Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Sevilla among others.
Vancsa joined the Nemzeti Bajnokság outfit from Ferencváros in 2015 and has gone on to make 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. The 17-year-old scored five goals with two assists from four games with their U19s earlier in the season and married senior level football at the same time.
McGrath says scouts from many clubs have been watching Vancsa in the last two years, but it’s City that have won the race for his signature. He’ll undergo a medical before completing the deal, though it’s unknown whether he’ll move to Manchester immediately or stay in Hungary.
Vancsa, who has represented his country at youth level, looks to have a bright future and couldn’t have a better manager to develop under. Pep Guardiola has handed minutes to 11 different teenagers this season, so young players definitely have a pathway into the first-team.
