Barcelona were rumoured to have made an attempt for Bernardo Silva on deadline day, but there was no follow-up from the media of an offer made to Manchester City, so the alleged pursuit was unsurprisingly unsuccessful.
If fresh reports from Spain are to be believed, however, the Catalan giants might be battling La Liga rivals Real Madrid for Silva over the summer. Sport (h/t Sport Witness) say Silva has ‘asked to leave’ City when the season comes to a close.
The 28-year-old is ‘determined’ to move on from the Sky Blues and would like to join Barca, but his lofty asking price will have to be met. City wanted £84m for the Portuguese international in August, though Guardiola would still prefer to keep him. Barca have so far been unwilling to match the valuation too.
Silva has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring a paltry two goals with five assists. His form has fallen off a cliff with no goal in the league since August and no assist since October, potentially due to the distracting transfer rumours, so his future needs to be resolved sooner rather than later.
